It’s time for SCORES again! This year, Marshall University will be hosting its annual SCORES academic festival on Saturday, April 17, 2010. In order to sign up for any competition, you MUST fill out a registration form & return it to the guidance office ASAP. There are a limited number of seats for each competition & enrollment is on a first-come, first-serve basis. You can find out more information by contacting Ms. Conley or Mr. (Nick) Smith or by checking out the official SCORES handbook here.
Just a few basics about SCORES:
WHAT IN THE WORLD IS IT? - The Marshall University SCORES competition (Search Committee On Recognizing Excellent Students) is an academic festival offered by the Marshall University Office of Recruitment.
WHEN & WHERE? - Saturday, April 17, 2010 at Marshall University. Contest times are 9:00, 10:15, & 11:30. The awards ceremony will take place at 1:30 (and there is even an award for the school that shows the most school spirit & even another one for the school that sends the most students to compete!).
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE? - Any Spring Valley High School student with a minimum 3.0 GPA.
HOW DO I REGISTER? - You must see either Mr. (Nick) Smith or Ms. Conley to get an application & return it to one of them NO LATER THAN Friday, March 19, 2010. (You can also click here to print an application.)Be aware that each contest has a limited number of spots available on a first-come, first-serve basis, so it’s best that you turn your application in ASAP!* Also, because we are restricted from sending more than a specific number of competitors in certain categories, auditions will be held to determine who will represent Spring Valley (though this is actually only a very small number of contests). Please pay attention for announcements concerning this auditions (if necessary for your desired competition).
